Mandate. 2. Our Strategic Focus and Core Programs Marginalized women, girls, men, and vulnerable populations in rural communities and refugee settlements face significant barriers to overcoming extreme poverty and unemployment. These barriers include limited access to business and financial skills, low social capital, lack of access to financial institutions, inadequate startup capital or tools, and restricted market access. Additionally, structural challenges such as gender discrimination, climate change, conflict, and global economic shocks exacerbate their vulnerability. As a result, many remain trapped in cycles of poverty and unemployment. OAF-Ug addresses these challenges through community-based empowerment and community-led development approaches that equip participants with skills, resources, and long-term mentorship to build sustainable livelihoods. Strategic Plan (2025–2030) Our Vision: To contribute to the eradication of extreme poverty and unemployment among over 200,000-300,000 young women, girls, and the most marginalized people by 2030. Our Approach: We scale our interventions within refugee settlements and host communities in Uganda, while expanding through collaboration, partnerships with refugee-led, local and international organizations. Program Model: Our model focuses on: Entrepreneurship and youth skills development Community green skills hubs for regenerative agriculture Financial inclusion through savings groups Collective innovation and community action Participants are supported with: Climate-smart business development skills Financial literacy
