Railway Children Africa

Railway Children Africa (RCA) is a registered non-governmental organization established in Tanzania in 2010. RCA works to create sustainable change for children and young people living and working on the streets, those separated from family care, and children at risk of abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence. Through direct service delivery, systems strengthening, advocacy, and research, RCA works to ensure that vulnerable children grow up safe, protected, and supported within families and communities. RCA operates in Mwanza and Dar es Salaam, delivering programmes that support vulnerable children, young people, and families. Since its establishment, RCA has reached more than 13,116 street-connected children and young people across Tanzania. RCA’s work is structured around four pillars: protecting vulnerable children through case management and reintegration; strengthening community and transport-sector responses; strengthening child protection systems through capacity building and policy support; and generating evidence to inform practice and scale effective models. Through this approach, RCA works to ensure every child grows up in a safe, nurturing family environment with the opportunity to thrive.
